Faculty of Arts & Sciences
The Faculty of Arts & Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses on all campuses. The Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design (BVAD) is offered at the Melbourne and Strathfield campuses, enabling students to study at either location. The Master of Visual Arts and Design (MVAD)is offered at the Strathfield Campus. The Faculty aims to provide courses that are both challenging academically and responsive to society’s rapidly changing demands. The Faculty has a vigorous research program and maintains art galleries on all campuses.

‘Chips ‘n’ gravy’
An exhibition that highlights the work of both Studio Art and Graphic Design students, after 3 years full time study at ACU. The final year students not only conceive and make the works, but also curate and stage the exhibition, as part of their studies.

Bachelor of Visual Arts & Design
3 years full time/part time equivalent
The Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design is designed for students interested in a broadly-based foundational program that integrates the study of studio-based art, art and design history and theory with a strand of graphic design. From third year there is provision for students to specialise in one or a combination of these areas, as well as for a third-year internship and the acquisition of relevant business skills. The course prepares students for ethical, professional practice in a diversity of careers in the visual arts and design industries.
Diploma of Visual Arts & Design
1 year full time/part time equivalent
Can lead into the BVAD.
Postgraduate Diploma in Visual Arts & Design
1 year full time/part time equivalent
This can lead into one year in the MVAD.
Master of Visual Arts & Design 2 years full time/part time equivalent
These courses specialise in either Design Studio in Graphic Design and Multimedia or Studio Practice in 2D/3D/Object Design. These courses will be of interest to students proceeding from an undergraduate degree seeking a postgraduate qualification, young professionals returning to study for updates and qualifications, mature age students seeking further insights and expertise in visual arts and design, and teachers wishing to continue studies at Master’s level.
Graduate Diploma of Education (Visual Arts)
1 year full time/part time equivalent
The Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary), GradDipEd,  is offered over one year with an add-on year to attain a Master of Teaching (Secondary), an MTeach.
