CATC - The Rocks, Sydney, offers industry relevant, accredited Design Education in the disciplines of Interior Design, Graphic Design and Multimedia from Certificate lll to Advanced Diploma level. Our vibrant college, which is located on the harbours’ edge in The Rocks district of Sydney, provides a wonderful combination of design studios and creative spaces. This enables students the opportunity to learn in a unique studio environment and also take inspiration from their beautiful surroundings.
CATC students are highly regarded in their respective industries. Students are taught greater design awareness, art & creativity, the design process and technical skills, which when combined together produce high end, individual design. The industry has recognised and responded to the high standard of work produced at CATC as students have been successful in not only gaining excellent design positions upon graduation, but also winning many highly regarded industry awards in both disciplines of the college. Articulation to university is also an option for CATC graduates.

Certificate III in Commercial Arts (Graphic Design & Desktop Publishing)
6 months full time/12 months part time
Students will gain a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Graphic Design & Desktop Publishing so they will be equipped to work in the art dept of an agency, art studio, production or publication house where their layout and art production skills may be fully utilised.
Certificate IV in Commercial Arts (Graphic Design & Advertising)
10 months full time/20 months part time
Allows graduates to gain employment within the advertising or art related industries. The course develops students’ design skills, as well as extensive training in the use of Mac’s and PC’s, to equip students for a variety of career choice within this creative industry.
Diploma of Commercial Arts (Graphic Design)
12 months full time/2 years part time
This course aims to help students acquire much greater design awareness and to develop their own individual style. They will become effective design communicators able to analyse briefs and visualise concepts. Graduates will gain employment in advertising or design agencies, printing, marketing, media and publishing companies and many graduates also go to not o establish their own freelance business.

Certificate III in Commercial Arts (Interior Decoration) Specialising in Advanced Decoration
6 months full time/12 months part time
This course gives students the practical hands-on skills in all aspects of the Interior Decoration industry. Particular emphasis is given on colour, product knowledge and students learn about spatial planning and making the successful client presentations.
Diploma of Commercial Arts (Interior Decoration & Design) Specialising in Advanced Interior Design
12 months full time/2 years part time
Graduates have a much greater design awareness, developing their own individual style and achieving a high level of professional competence. Students become effective communicators and are able to analyse a brief and visualize concepts. Graduates will gain employment in large architectural or interior design firms, consultancies, wholesale or retail outlets. Graduates may also go on to establish their own design companies.
Advanced Diploma of Commercial Arts (Interior Design)
2 years full time
Graduates will work with large design firms, architects, builders and developers or as interior designers with their own firms. During the course students gain a broad skill base and learn how to think creatively. These skills can be applied to a diverse range of interior projects such as private home renovations, showrooms, commercial fit outs, art galleries, medical centres, high end retail shops and more.
Electronic Design & Interactive Media
Advanced Diploma of Arts (Electronic Design & Interactive Media)
2 years full time
Successful graduates will work as designers, developers, art directors, authors and project managers in areas such as publishing, television, and other related areas. Some will work in interaction design for software and hardware companies, others as independent consultants.
