DG Student Design Competition 2008
DG Student Design Competition 2008
For several years we have invited students to design a cover for an imaginary issue of Design Graphics and, more recently, DG magazine.
For 2008 we made some important changes. The competition is now called the ‘DG Student Design Competition’ and has expanded to offer a choice of designing a magazine cover or website home page.
This competition was open to all students studying an appropriate course at an Australian tertiary institution, and is run in conjunction with the DG Art & Design Education Resource Guide. This year we also introduced a new Secondary School division to include VCE art and design students in the competition.
As always, the judges job was difficult as there were so many good entries in 2008. For the first time we suggested themes that students may apply to their designs: fashion design, pop culture and Planet Earth (ecology and sustainabilty). This produced interesting and exciting results from the students who entered. A gallery of winners, commendations and notable entries is displayed here, as well as in the print edition of the Art & Design Education Resource Guide, available in newsagents and bookstores from mid-August 2008.
