Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) Awareness DVD Cover Design Competition

THE COMPETITION

Help the CFA to assist in helping inform the community about bushfire safety by creating a DVD Cover Design for the Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) Awareness DVD Cover Design Competition.

To complement the VBIL Awareness DVD, the CFA VBIL Project, in partnership with ArtsHub invites submissions for the VBIL Awareness DVD cover design competition. The winning design will be featured in the VBIL Awareness DVD. Selected design entries may also participate in the DVD launch as part of the VBIL Awareness Campaign.

THE DVD
The VBIL Awareness DVD will consist of 4 individual short video clips with specific messages for CFA Brigade and volunteer members, general community members, travellers and tourists, and diverse populations.

The VBIL Awareness DVD has the support of the Victorian fire agencies, Peter Hitchener of Nine Network Australia and Kimberley Davies (Actress, Neighbours) and will be available for distribution by late October 2012.

THE DESIGN
- A creative image that captures the spirit of community awareness through the VBIL service.

Join Illustrators Australia for the second one day seminar for 2012 where five professional specialist illustrators talk about their work, processes, experiences, and show through their portfolios.

Speakers include: 

Stuart McLachlan – Paper Artist/Stylist/illustrator Based in Sydney, award winning here and internationally in advertising illustration and more recently in the field of his new technique of paper styling. Clients include The Economist, The New Yorker, Vogue, Bulmers Cider, Singapore Airlines.

Sonia Kretschmar- Book/ Editorial illustrator Melbourne based with over 20 years experience. Primarily works within magazine and book publishing, winner of awards here and internationally. Clients include Penguin Books, Rolling Stone, Walker Books, Harper Collins just to name a few.

Christopher Nielsen – Advertising/Editorial illustrator Based in Sydney, his work is inspired by vintage design, a unique style in demand and the winner of many awards here and overseas. Clients include The New York Times, ABC radio, Readers Digest, Yalumba Wines and many more.

Serena Geddes – Childrens book illustrator Sydney based and working on her 16th book, with a range of board books, novels, picture books and educational readers. Clients include Walker Books, Penguin, Five Mile Press, Ford street and Walt Disney Animation and more.

Douglas Holgate- Comic artist/Cartoonist Based in Melbourne, prodominantly chapter books for young readers, comics and cartoons, clients include Image Comics, Random House, Mad Magazine, Harper Collins
and many more.
